The transition

After months of planning and talking, Alexis and I finally moved to the US, specifically to Washington, D.C. She is working with NMSF International Affairs at NOAA, and I am going to be searching a job in the conservation area.

The plan is to be here at least a year, and depending on our experiences, maybe longer. The first month has gone by so quickly, and I haven't felt a big lifestyle change yet, so maybe I can confirm that both countries are not as different as one would imagine. Of course there are differences, and most people would mention language, economy, and maybe education, but, we can not forget that human behavior is very similar, independently of nationality.

So far, I have to say that this year is going to be very rich in experiences, Washington D.C. ("the City" from now on) is a cosmopolitan city, with people from everywhere, and you would think it is a big'sized city, but its actually fairly small )in terms of area, although it has the "big cities" issues -like traffic, transportation issues, and emergency vehicles sirens all day!

The transition begins here, with an election year in both countries (Mexico and US) it will be interesting to share my thoughts and experiences here.

talk to you soon..
